The Academy 10.00am 1.15pm
The Academy is split into the following classes:
Young Performers for students aged 3-5 years
Classes run for 1 ½ hours each week These classes place a strong emphasis on fun! We are aware how much children of this age respond to any activity that seems fun and lively. With our unique set up we are able to build on every childs self confidence, whilst installing the basic techniques of all three disciplines, and building on their own natural creativity. Each discipline helps to build on different skills: Drama Our teachers use games and exercises to encourage children to be more confident and explore their imagination whilst improving on their language and communication skills. Dance Our approach to dance enables our young students to build on their balance and co-ordination, whilst learning to take instruction and being able to memorise movements. Singing Children will have great fun learning different songs of varying styles. This class is a great introduction to pitching, rhythm and technique.
The Academy for students aged 6 15 years
Classes run for three hours each week, with one hour dedicated to each discipline
Within the main academy, classes are split into three age groups: 6-9 years, 10-12 years and 13 15 years. Once students enter the main academy, classes are specifically designed to achieve maximum results for each student within each discipline. We work to improve and develop all skills that are vital to achieving success within the performing arts industry, as well as encouraging confidence and ambition that is important in day to day life. Although we are keen to ensure that the training provided is of the highest standard, we are able to ensure that the students will find every class enjoyable, fun and incredibly rewarding. Drama These classes are tailored to educate our students on all aspects of becoming an actor. Students will be encouraged to explore characterisation, experience various acting techniques, and take part in both improvisation and script work. They will also learn about voice projection. Dance Our Dance classes are designed to focus on three key areas, improving fitness and flexibility, learning and creating choreography, and finally all aspects of presentation, including performance skills and spatial awareness. As always, it is very important to us that students are given the tools to enable them to become much stronger performers. Singing Students are encouraged to explore many different styles and genres of music, whilst using a safe and effective vocal technique. Our teachers are trained to educate our students on the basic mechanics of the voice, and how to improve upon their own sound, whilst keeping lessons interesting and fun. Vocal harmony work is gradually introduced as students get older.
The Academy 16+ Performers for students aged 16 and above
Classes run for three hours each week, with one hour dedicated to each discipline Once students enter the 16+ Performers group, we begin to prepare students for working within the Performing arts industry. Although classes are tailored to expand upon current skills, it is still suitable for those just starting out. If you are serious about performing, or feel it is a hobby you would like to explore in more depth, then this is the group for you. Within this age group we explore all of the previous areas mentioned, within each of the disciplines, but within this age group we start to step things up a gear. Although classes remain fun and rewarding, you will see that we start to have much more emphasis on progression at this stage, and it is important to us that we offer good strong advice on selecting the right college/career path for you. Within all three disciplines, students will start to explore in more depth all training that is vital to becoming a successful performer. We begin to look more at audition techniques, and business/work opportunities. As each student progresses we help them to become more ambitious, confident, hard working, talented Performers!
